The Story Behind Wix Freaks

Wix Freaks

For those who don't know, Wix Freaks is my business where we help businesses grow using technology. We build websites, create systems and processes, and basically do everything to help them scale. In simpler terms, we're a tech consulting company.

The Inspiration

The idea to start my own business came from a few places:

  1. Family Business: Growing up with a father who built a steel manufacturing company from the ground up wasn't just about having a business owner as a dad. It was a front-row seat to the relentless drive and dedication required to be an entrepreneur. I saw firsthand the challenges he faced, the long hours he put in, and the sacrifices he made to keep the business afloat. But I also witnessed the immense satisfaction he derived from building something from scratch, employing people, and providing for our family. This instilled a deep respect for entrepreneurship – the ability to create something valuable, take control of your destiny, and leave a legacy. However, this close-up view also tempered my enthusiasm with a healthy dose of realism. I saw the relentless work ethic required, the constant pressure to succeed, and the potential for setbacks. This instilled a strong work ethic in me, but also a practical understanding of the challenges involved.

  2. Hunger for Success: Money was certainly a motivator. The financial security and freedom that comes with a successful business were undeniably appealing. I yearned for the ability to control my own income, invest in my future, and provide a comfortable life for myself and my family. But the true hunger stemmed from a desire for impact. While internships offered valuable learning experiences, they lacked the control and autonomy to truly make a difference. I craved the ability to build something that could solve real problems, empower others, and leave a positive mark on the world. A successful business offers the potential to combine financial success with the power to create a positive impact.

  3. The "Have To" vs. "Want To": Here's a key point: Sometimes, success comes from doing what you "have to" rather than just what you "want to" do. Initially, Wix Freaks wasn't my first choice. But it aligned with my needs at the time – to make money, support myself and my family, and build something of my own.

Focusing on Wix website development turned out to be a good decision. I kept learning, growing, and delivering results for clients. Over time, the focus shifted from just making money to building a sustainable business that could run even without me being directly involved.

Why Wix Freaks?

There were other business ideas I could have pursued, some potentially more lucrative. But Wix Freaks fit my needs at the time. It also comes with some risks, like being dependent on the Wix platform and operating in a niche market. However, the rewards have been great so far.

Here’s the takeaway, Wix Freaks is a reminder that sometimes, the best path isn't always the most obvious one. It's about hard work, learning, and adapting to build something of your own, even if it starts with doing what you "have to" rather than just what you "want to" do. What's your inspiration to work?
